For more than 10 years now, the Glass Slipper Project has been making prom/formal dresses available to all at prices quite unlike you’d find in stores.

Selling dresses for just $10, the annual popup shop is the handiwork of the Lebanon County Commission for Women, which started the effort in 2008.

The shop will be open just two days, Friday March 1 from 7pm to 9pm and Saturday March 2 from 10am to 2pm. The store will be located in the Lebanon Valley Mall (in the former Maurice’s storefront located across from Bath & Body Works).

There is also a Positive Messaging Prom Fashion Show taking place Friday night at 6pm. Lebanon County high school students will model some of the dresses in front of the store.

The sale is open to any high school student with a valid school ID. Each student may purchase two dresses, with all sizes and styles available. Attendees can also register to win prizes like gift certificates for free flowers, nail, and hair services or free tickets to prom.

All profits go directly back to door prizes and other program costs. Dresses are donated from “everyone and anyone who is able to support our project,” said Glass Slipper Project chairperson Leigh Hitz-Miller. “We’ve had the gracious support of area business groups who’ve made special collection efforts for us.”

Hitz-Miller says that the event’s dress donation effort has been promoted at local high schools and campuses, as well as on social media.
