Most towns in America have a community Christmas tree. Some are set up just for the holiday season, while others are a permanent fixture in a local park or along “Main Street.” Now you can add the Village of Campbelltown to the list of places with a resident Christmas tree.
According to Pat Krebs, Manager of the Campbelltown Community Alliance (CCA), a beautiful 10 ft. Norway Spruce tree was planted on Nov. 4 in the Campbelltown Community Park. The park is located between Lawn Road and the Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company.
On Sunday Dec. 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. the Village of Campbelltown will have its first-ever Holiday Tree Lighting Event hosted by the CCA and sponsored by the Palmyra Area Business Association, local businesses, and individuals from the community. Attendees will be able to help decorate the tree by putting their name on an ornament for $5. Proceeds benefit the Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company.
Festivities will begin at the Park with the lighting of the new tree and singing of Christmas Carols. Visitors will then move inside to the Fire Hall for free “family fun” activities including hot cocoa, cookies, crafts, games, and of course, the big man in the red suit. The CCA is hoping the Tree Lighting Event will become a new annual holiday tradition in Campbelltown.
“This is a great opportunity for our neighbors to enjoy the holidays, meet some new people from the community, and tell Santa what you want for Christmas,” said CCA President Jen Bushta in the release. “We hope to see you there.”
The tree was donated by Blue Ridge Christmas Tree Farm.
