Lebanon City Police investigating two instances of gun shots fired in downtown

Police are investigating two instances of gun shots fired this week in the City of Lebanon.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21, Lebanon City Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Cumberland Street for damage to a parked unattended car that was consistent with the vehicle having been struck by bullets, according to a release.

Police said an investigation revealed that on Wednesday, May 20, around 9:50 p.m., an unknown subject, thought to be male, had approached Cumberland Street from N. 10th Street and discharged two handgun rounds into the car. Police said they believe the vehicle was specifically targeted and that two expended cartridges were later recovered from the scene.

An investigation revealed that the subject left the scene by foot in the same direction from which they had arrived.

Later Thursday night, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 100 block of Chestnut Street in response to a report of gun shots fired. Police said that upon arrival they were informed by a witness that two Hispanic males in a dark blue vehicle had been observed traveling east on Chestnut Street. The witness said the vehicle’s passenger had fired a handgun out his window in a southern direction, towards the nearby cemetery.

Several expended cartridges were recovered from that scene as well.
