The second annual Small Business Saturday Walk is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 28.
The walk is free to participate in and is hosted by Downtown Lebanon and the Community Health Council of Lebanon County.
All who register for the walk will meet at 11:00 a.m. at the pergola structure located at the corner of 9th and Cumberland. Mayor Sherry Capello will lead the community members around the central business district featuring many of the small businesses. The walk is in honor of Small Business Saturday.
“We believe that Lebanon is a wonderfully, walkable city and we like to encourage people to come Downtown more often to do some shopping and visit our restaurants and café’s,” said Nikki Mauer, Executive Director of Community Health Council, in a release. “We are thrilled to partner with Downtown Lebanon on many of our walking projects. Walking provides numerous health benefits and is one of the easiest and most accessible forms of exercise during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are excited to still be able to offer opportunities like these.”
The Mayor will highlight downtown Lebanon specialty businesses like Loser’s Music and Wertz Candies as well as architecture of the City, like Salem Lutheran Church and the Lebanon Farmers Market.
“Last year the Mayor kicked off our Small Business Saturday with the launch of our Downtown Lebanon Walk Works Route,” said Amy Kopecky, Manager for Downtown Lebanon Main Street, in the release. “The walk highlighted the many wonderful features that our downtown has to offer. It was great to hear the Mayor speak so passionately about her City and share her knowledge of the businesses history.”
The Walk Works Route will be used again this year. Many Downtown businesses and history will be featured.
Anyone who is interested in participating in the walk can register through Eventbrite.
“Downtown Lebanon has over 100 amazing businesses and through the efforts of the Main Street and Community Health Council we have been encouraging walkability throughout the downtown to get the community into these businesses through the walk works program,” Kopecky said.
COVID-19 precautions such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing will be implemented. The walk will be limited to 25 people and masks will be required.
“The Main Street program works hard to get the community into our small businesses and we encourage Lebanon Residents to come out and shop small not only on November 28th but all year long,” Kopecky said. “We hope the community will join us for another great walk to kick off the holiday season.”
