Well-Being Concerts at Mount Gretna Playhouse

Experience music as a space to breathe, rest, and reconnect at Gretna Music’s Well-Being Concerts on Friday, Aug. 28, at the Mount Gretna Playhouse. Created in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, these special performances feature acclaimed pianist Mathis Picard and heart meditation specialist Leslie Bures in an intimate, immersive setting designed for deep relaxation and renewal.
Choose from performances at noon or 7 p.m., and enjoy a one-of-a-kind concert experience that blends live music and mindfulness. Attendees are welcome to bring a yoga mat or meditation pillow (we will also provide some mats and pillows) to use on stage or choose to sit in a provided chair on stage. Seating in the hall is also available. Choose your preference at checkout. Tickets are $20.00. Your ticket also supports the Sixth Street Playground, helping provide a free summer day camp and meals for local children. This performance is generously underwritten by the Bill Drendall Endowment.

Union Canal Tunnel Kayak Tour at Union Canal Tunnel Park

Tour the oldest existing transportation tunnel in the United States. The tunnel operated from 1827 to 1855. We have the honor of being given special permission for access on the water. Join us for a calm paddle and a history lesson, as a local historian shares the history and knowledge of the canal and the surrounding area.
A percentage of the cost goes to the Lebanon County Historical Society. Ages 16+. Paddling experience is required. No inflatables, no tandems. Bring a headlamp.
Opening Reception: Walker Evans in Cuba at Zimmerman Recital Hall

Join us for an opening reception for “Walker Evans in Cuba: The Ernest Hemingway Collection.” In 1933, Walker Evans traveled to Cuba to make photographs for Carleton Beals’ The Crime of Cuba, a blistering critique of dictator Gerardo Machado’s brutal regime. In Havana, Evans met the acclaimed 33-year-old writer Ernest Hemingway. A chance encounter led the two to become drinking buddies. The 44 vintage photographs in this exhibition, all printed in Cuba, come from Hemingway’s personal collection of Evans’ photographs, the fruits of that friendship.
Light refreshments will be served. Latin music featuring John Grisbacher and LVC alums with Cryptic Tymbal.

Summer Concert Series and Classic Car Show at StoneRidge Retirement Living Communities

StoneRidge Retirement Living Communities invites the community to enjoy the 2026 Summer Concert Series & Classic Car Show, featuring live music, classic cars, food trucks, and free family-friendly entertainment throughout the summer season. Hosted at StoneRidge in Myerstown, the concert series brings together great music, community connection, and an exciting outdoor atmosphere for guests of all ages. All concerts begin at 5:30 p.m.
The series will feature the Pharaohs Car Club and a showcase of classic vehicles alongside live performances from popular musical acts. Guests can enjoy an evening filled with community spirit, entertainment, and a nostalgic summer concert experience in a welcoming outdoor setting.
The summer series continues on Friday, Aug. 28, with a live performance by Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods. Food trucks for the August event will include Poncho’s Backyard Grubbin’, offering additional food and refreshment options throughout the evening.

Adam Zurn: Uncharted Lancaster, Continental Congress in Lancaster at Hall of Philosophy

Adam Zurn will present “Uncharted Lancaster, Continental Congress in Lancaster” on Friday, Aug. 28, starting at 7 p.m., in the Hall of Philosophy.
On Sept. 27, 1777, Lancaster briefly became the nation’s capital when members of the Continental Congress fled Philadelphia and convened in the courthouse at what is now Penn Square. Today, we celebrate this pivotal moment in the history of the Red Rose City. However, in 1777, it was a time of fear and uncertainty. Delegates — each with a bounty on his head — along with other refugees, crowded into Lancaster while British forces were just a few days’ march away.
This fascinating presentation will examine the sequence of events that led to this defining moment for Lancaster in American history. Donations are appreciated.

Ride Ready Workshop at Lebanon Community Library

Join Lebanon Bicycle Recycle for a Ride Ready Workshop, a kid- and family-friendly, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the skills you need to ride safely, take care of your bike, and handle some of the most common bike problems. Whether you’re a young rider just getting started or a parent looking to brush up on your bike skills, everyone is welcome!
We’ll cover the essentials, including:
– Bike safety: Learn how to ride safely on streets, navigate traffic, and make smart choices while riding.
– Helmet fit: Learn how to properly fit and wear your helmet for the best protection.
– Bike maintenance: Get familiar with the ABC Quick Check and learn what to look for before every ride.
– Hands-on repairs: Learn how to tackle common bike issues, including fixing a flat tire, adjusting brakes, and repairing a chain.
Please do not bring your own bike. Bikes will be provided for participants to use during the hands-on portion of the workshop. Whether you’re getting back on a bike, riding regularly, or just want to know what to do when something goes wrong, the Ride Ready Workshop will give you practical skills you can use every time you ride.
