The Pet of the Week sometimes features a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the column spotlights an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.
This week, meet adoptable Bonnie!
Bonnie, according to Pitties.Love.Peace rep Mika Stiefel, is playful, timid, and sweet. A female, just 10 months old, she is a “social butterfly with other dogs, but defaults to hesitation and shyness with new people.” On the other hand, Mika says, she’s a “cuddle bug with her known people.”
Don’t let “black dog syndrome” discourage you from giving Bonnie a chance!
Food and treats are everything to this playful pup, and her ideal home would have “at least one confident and playful canine companion for her to pal around with,” Mika says. She notes that Bonnie will engage with cats, so “dog-savvy cats are best” for her future household.
Bonnie is crate-trained and “working hard at housebreaking,” Mika adds.
“After a recent hospitalization, she was diagnosed with doggie IBS and will need prescription food and reasonably priced meds to prevent flare-ups,” she says. The rescue agency is looking for “a calm but active family that will be committed to ongoing socialization and training to show her that the world is not so scary.”
