Update: Lebanon police have charged 19-year-old Alex Montes-Rivera in connection with the shooting. Montes-Rivera was charged with homicide, flight to avoid apprehension, and firearms not to be carried without a license. Police said Montes-Rivera was in custody and more information would be released in the coming days. The charges had not been posted to the state’s Unified Judicial System as of Sunday evening.
A 33-year-old city man was fatally shot Friday afternoon in the first block of North Jones Street, and investigators believe he was targeted, Lebanon city police said.
Officers were called to the block at about 1:53 p.m. Friday for a report of a gunshot victim, police said. They found Daniel Matos, of Lebanon, dead at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound.
A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was not a random act of gunfire and that Matos was targeted, police said. No arrests have been announced, and police have not released information about a suspect or a possible motive.
The Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office is assisting city police with the investigation, which police described as active and ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 717-272-2054 or submit a tip through CrimeWatch.
Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation permits.
