LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.
Our Pet of the Week is sometimes available for adoption through a local shelter. Other times the weekly column will spotlight a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home.
This week, meet Squirrel!

“The ! is mandatory in the spelling, but optional in the pronunciation,” explains owner Linda Jones.
“She is a black cat with black stripes, but the stripes only show up in the right light, she just looks like a panther,” Linda says. “She is extremely smart and uses buttons to talk. One time a friend was over and we were talking, and my friend was upset (crying) and Squirrel! went to her buttons and pushed ‘I love you’ and stared at my friend. It was so sweet.”
Sometimes Squirrel! can “be cheeky with the buttons.” Linda explains that her house panther once pointedly told a visiting friend it was “bedtime” using her buttons, then confirmed with another button that she wanted the guest to leave.
“She is 4 years old and just the best little buddy I could have,” she says. “Her favorite pastime is watching the squirrels outside the living room window and she is not a lap kitty. She loves to play.”
Congratulations to Squirrel! for being this week’s LebTown Pet of the Week!
