James J. Carpenter Jr., 84, of Lebanon, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, at home. He was the husband of the late Gabriele J. Barbel Carpenter.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on Aug. 27, 1942, James was a son of the late James J. Sr. and Dorothy (Willie) Carpenter. He enjoyed traveling and watching TV, especially crime shows.

James is survived by his son, James J. Carpenter III, husband of Ruth; grandchildren, Deanna Carpenter and Tiffany Jones; great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Josiah; sister, Kathy Couture; and good friend, Dianna Dohner. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan and Linda.

Interment with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Those attending, please gather at the funeral home between 12 and 12:15 p.m. to depart for the cemetery.
