Thomas L. Anderson, 77, of Annville, PA, passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. Born on Aug. 2, 1949, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Charles B. Anderson Sr. and the late Ida G. (Walker) Anderson. On Nov. 13, 1971, he married his devoted wife, Sandra Kay (Wadsworth) Anderson, whom he was happily married to for almost 55 years and who was by his side through his courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his sons, Scott C. Anderson (Marcy), of Rapid City, SD, and Michael L. Anderson, of Annville; and grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Anderson, of Rapid City, SD, and Joshua Anderson, of Pittsburgh, PA. He will also be missed by his faithful dog, Toby, and his favorite granddog, Charlie. Thomas “Tom” grew up with his parents and siblings in Bellefonte. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Anna; older brother, Charles Jr.; and sister-in-law, Sharon. Surviving Tom are his brothers, Robert (Gail), Jim, Denny (Cindy), and Gary.
Tom was drafted and served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Infantry from March 1969 to his honorable discharge in March 1971. He served in Germany as a sergeant E-5 before going to Vietnam the last six months of his tour of duty. Upon returning home, Tom met his future wife cruising the streets of his hometown. Wasting no time, Tom and Sandy were married in Lock Haven, settling in Bellefonte. Tom worked as a maintenance supervisor in Harrisburg and State College for many years at several apartment complexes. Tom and Sandy bought their first home in Houserville, where they lived and raised their family for over 20 years. Later in life, they were able to purchase their dream home in Haneyville, just north of Lock Haven, where they lived for eight years before moving to Annville earlier this year to be closer to their youngest son.
Tom loved spending time with his family, camping, hunting, and working on his many projects at his home in Haneyville. He enjoyed bowling at Armenara Lanes and later Northland Bowl in State College, where he made many friends. Tom loved spending time with his dad and brothers hunting, fishing, and attending the annual “feed” at hunting camp. Later in life, he gave up hunting, fishing, and bowling to camp with his wife, family, and friends. He loved to take his camper to state parks, including his favorites Bald Eagle State Park and Shawnee State Park.
Tom loved working on his yard and mowing the grass at his home in Haneyville. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends, especially Glen and Rick. As much as he loved his home, he loved his wife more, so they moved to Annville earlier this year to be closer to their son. He will be missed by many people he met through the years, especially by his family and friends.
