Fort Zeller Elementary School kindergarten teacher Jamie Yocum is one of three Pennsylvania educators to be recognized this year by the Daughters of the American Revolution with a $500 grant for her classroom.

Yocum was presented with the check at a recent DAR ceremony by Lebanon chapter president Bonnie Loy.

Fort Zeller is one of two elementary schools in the Eastern Lebanon County School District, commonly known as ELCO.

The funds will be used to support social emotional growth of Yocum’s kindergarten students.

“Mrs. Yocum is loved and appreciated by not only her students, but by the staff at Fort Zeller Elementary,” said Jodi Houck, principal of Fort Zeller Elementary, in an email to LebTown. “Her fun-loving personality lights up the building.”

Houck said that Yocum is a dedicated and caring teacher who always puts her students first.

“Mrs. Yocum being awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution grant is an honor and a testament to her dedication to teaching and her students.”
