FIRST Robotics Team 2539, better known as the Krypton Cougars, wrapped up its latest competitive season in Houston, Texas, with a third-place posting among 75 teams from around the world.
The team of students from the Palmyra-Hershey area finished qualification matches at the FIRST World Championship in Houston and finished third in the Curie Division. According to a statement from the team, the FIRST Robotics World Championship had 600 teams split into eight divisions, each named after a famous scientist.
Statbotics, which tracks team performances for the season, notes that the Krypton Cougars “had a record of 48-15-1 in 2024.”
With the third-place victory in Houston, the website notes, the Cougars now rank first among 60 competing teams in Pennsylvania, first among 127 competing teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, 37th out of 2,806 teams in the United States, and 44th out of 3,474 teams worldwide.
Also during the 2024 season, Team 2539 won two district events, won the Engineering Inspiration, Quality, and Creativity awards, and had a Dean’s List semifinalist recognized as one of the top students in the Mid-Atlantic region.
“Another amazing season is in the books,” the teams said in the release. “We couldn’t be more proud of our on field and off field accomplishments along with the growth and learning of our Team!”
