Lorraine Mae Light, 78, of Mt. Gretna, PA, passed away on May 2, 2024, in Lebanon, PA.

Lorraine was born on June 22, 1945, in Lebanon, PA, to the late Oscar and Dorothy Light.

Lorraine was a versatile individual with a rich and fulfilling life. She was a theater major at Penn State University before starting her career as an assistant buyer for Orbach’s department store in New York City. She then dedicated several years as a homemaker while serving as a Mt. Gretna Heights treasurer. She later pursued her passion for accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Outside of her professional life, Lorraine had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She excelled as a star field hockey player in high school, and she played tennis and skied for many years. She had a deep love for theater, and she became an award-winning photographer in her later years. She was a long-time Mt. Gretna resident and enjoyed time on her porch and at the beach with her family. Lorraine was a fearless advocate for her loved ones and a proud supporter of the arts and education.

She is survived by her loving sons, Scott Harlan and Adam Harlan; her cherished grandchildren, Kaya Harlan Rogers, Finneas Harlan, and Anderson Harlan; her dear daughters-in-law, Jennifer Hembree and Anchisa Harlan; and her sisters, Janice Shafebook and Joanne Bernard.

She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar Light; mother, Dorothy Light; and sister, Barbara Hafey.

A memorial event to celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held at the Mt. Gretna Heights Community Building on Thursday, May 9, from 3-7 p.m. An exhibit showcasing Lorraine’s photos will be on display at the event.

Lorraine will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, dedication, and passion will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
