Electricity runs behind the scenes, inside the walls of a home or business. When it is not working, everyone notices it immediately. When it does work, it provides many modern conveniences. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), electrical malfunctions are the largest cause of property damage in home structure fires across the U.S! With that in mind Genesis Lighting and Electric recently announced the addition of a new service program: The $99 50-Point Home Electrical Assessment.

According to Genesis President and Founder Ben Ilgenfritz, an electrical home assessment provides a thorough examination of the electrical system, ensuring the electrical wires, systems, and components, meet legal safety standards.

“Our team has a 50 point checklist that our inspection covers in and around the home,” said Ilgenfritz. “Upon completion, we will provide a detailed, prioritized, checklist including areas in need of immediate attention, recommendations for improvements, and potential upgrade possibilities.”

Ilgenfritz noted that there are a variety of reasons an inspection should take place.

“You should have an Electrical Assessment when purchasing a new home, when a home is 20 years or older, when adding a new appliance, or before a major renovation,” he added.

Some of the 50 Points of the Electrical Assessment include, switch and wall outlet operation and condition, shock or electrocution hazards, a check of all safety and security lighting, and inspection of the electrical panel, just to name a few.

“Our goal is to ensure the safe operation of the electrical components in your home and, in the long run, help you save energy and reduce costs,” said Ilgenfritz.
