We want feedback on how LebTown handles names in police blotters.

Some of you have asked us to reconsider our Right to be Forgotten policy, which currently states that the only circumstance where we will publish a name in a police blotter is if felony charges have been filed with the state.

We do this because the Internet may store or โ€œcacheโ€ what we publish indefinitely, we place a high standard on the publication of names related to misdemeanor offenses.

We aren’t announcing any changes today, but we want to gather more feedback on what kind of blotter policy will best serve Lebanon County.

Help us out by completing this brief survey that puts you in our position, and lets you decide whether names should be shared for specific examples from real Lebanon County police blotters. After completing the survey you will have an opportunity to provide further feedback, if you so choose.

  1. If a person is arrested who is not a juvenile (under age 18) then the names should be published. The arrest is already a matter of public record once the arrest/charge is filed or issued. So unless the names are redacted by a police department for some reason, there is no legitimate reason not the publish them.
