With Cedar Crest assistant principal Edward Felty retiring June 30, the school has filled the position.

After serving the district for six years as an assistant principal, Felty is retiring June 30 to run the Allen Theatre, which he and wife Sue purchased last year (paywall).

Assistant principal Barbara May will succeed him and Robert Snyder, athletic director/assistant principal, will take over her position.

The position of athletic director/assistant principal will be filled by middle school English curriculum leader Christopher Groff.

Groff has taught 6th grade at Cedar Crest Middle School for 20 years and has been the curriculum leader for 15 years.

Groff was involved in the school athletically in addition to academically. He spent three years as the assistant JV baseball coach and 10 as the high school’s head varsity baseball coach. He coached basketball for eight years.

Outside of school, Groff is the president of the Falcon Youth Baseball Association. He is the head coach of 3rd to 8th grade teams in Falcon Youth Baseball, for which he volunteers as a travel/recreation coordinator.

Groff attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree, Penn State for his master’s degree, and was certified to be a principal by Temple University.

To prepare for his new position, Groff took part in leadership building teams and an administrative internship at the middle school.

Groff, along with the other assistant principals, will officially take his new position July 1.
