LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.
This week, meet Krissy!
Krissy’s owner, Todd Johnson of Mount Gretna, says their pup turns 12 this month. A rescue from Georgia, she is an American bulldog/golden retriever mix that the family adopted when she was just 7 months old.
“Krissy was trained by me and was certified as a pet therapy dog in January 2013 through the Red Cross Pet Therapy Program,” Todd says. “In January 2015, our group evolved and formed our own program, Caring Hearts Pet Therapy. Krissy has visited patients in their rooms at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, kids staying at the Hershey Ronald McDonald House, as well as visiting students who read to her in classrooms in Lebanon and Dauphin counties.”
“In the past Krissy also visited veterans at the Lebanon VA hospital, the growers at Hope Spring Farm, and patients rehabbing at local rehab hospitals. Krissy has recently slowed her visitations somewhat but is still actively visiting students in various schools and kids at the Ronald McDonald House.”
If you spy Krissy out in the hills of Mount Gretna, please thank her for all her good work!
