Aggressive driving enforcement – The Lebanon City Police Department will join the Pennsylvania State Police and approximately 300 municipal agencies to conduct a targeted aggressive driving enforcement wave from Monday, March 17, through Sunday, April 27. The goal of targeted enforcement is to reduce the number of aggressive driving-related crashes, injuries, and deaths on roadways throughout the state.

Any aggressive driver stopped by police will receive a ticket. The enforcement wave will focus on distracted driving, speeding, and work zone awareness. Motorists exhibiting other unsafe behaviors, such as driving too fast for conditions, following too closely, or other aggressive actions, will also be cited.

The enforcement is part of Pennsylvania’s Highway Safety Program and is funded by part of PennDOT’s investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. For more information on aggressive driving, visit PennDOT.pa.gov/Safety.

Bigs in Blue program – In coordination with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA and the Lebanon School District, Lebanon City police officers are participating in the Bigs in Blue program. Ten officers have volunteered to mentor students throughout Lebanon School District.

Pictured are “Bigs in Blue Officer” Erik Peiffer and “Little Brother” Ethan. Ethan is an 8th grader at Lebanon Junior High School. Ethan’s father was in the Marine Corps (OORAH!), so he’s considering exploring the military as a potential career path post-high school. Lucky for him, his new Bigs in Blue devoted eight years to the Army (HOORAH!) and has plenty of experience and wisdom to share! This duo is looking forward to connecting through their shared interest in sports, cool clothes, and shoes.
