Henry A. Yordy, Jr., 91, died peacefully in the Lebanon VAMC on Monday March 3, 2025. He was the late husband to Nancy L. Yordy for over 30 years, whom he loved dearly and will be buried beside. Born on January 3, 1934, in Lebanon, Pa, a son of the late Henry Yordy Sr. and Helen Shepler.
He served in the Army (56-58) and the Army Reserve until 1962. A well known builder and business owner in Lebanon and Dauphin county for over 50 years. His proudest accomplishment, having the opportunity to work alongside and teach his children the trade. After retirement Henry enjoyed many years living between Lebanon and his Florida home, eventually relocating. He recently returned to Lebanon, living with his great niece, Michelle Albright and her children: Carter Dodson, Aidyn Miller, and Paisley Uffner, to be closer to his family. He was the President and member of the Lebanon Co Builders Association for many years. Always kind hearted and generous, he especially enjoyed helping family and friends with building projects. Henry made many contributions and sponsorships. He sponsored a team in the Contractor’s league at Cedar Lanes in which he also enjoyed bowling in. He sponsored a Lebanon co softball class B team for many years and enjoyed attending every game. He enjoyed attending live sporting events including PSU football, and Millersville football games to watch his late brother in law, Gene Carpenter, coach. One of the things he loved most was a good poker game with his late brother in law, Hal Lutz. Henry had a passion for wood working and carpentry. Over the years it brought him great joy to hand craft wooden toys and gift them to people, especially children. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, and was affectionately known as the “Puzzle Man” at his Florida VA.
Henry’s journey begins by joining his loved ones. In addition to his beloved wife Nancy, proceeding him directly in death is a son, Steven Yordy. Also a son, Kerry Yordy and a stepson, Ralph E McCook III. His first wife, Sylvia Donten Yordy, a brother, Donald Yordy, husband to Pauline. A sister Mary Tropasso, wife to the late Anthony. And a grandson, Glen Weaver II, son to Sharon Weaver.
He is survived by his children: Michael Yordy husband to Ronda, David Yordy, and Sharon Weaver (children of his first wife, the late Sylvia Donten Yordy); Lisa Yordy wife of Walter Martin, Henry Yordy III, and Jeffery Yordy (children of Nella Kroh Yordy); and stepdaughter Denise Bollard wife of Ted Bollard. In addition to his beloved children he is survived by siblings: Kenneth Yordy, husband to the late Judy, Harry Vandett husband to Brenda, and Betty Lutz wife to the late Harold.
He is survived by Grandchildren: Sylvia Kline daughter of Sharon; Jason Yordy son of Michael; Christopher Yordy, Amanda Yordy, and Cody Boltz-Yordy, children of David; Henry Yordy IV son of Henry III; Daniel Yordy and Aaron Seibert, children of Jeffery Yordy; James Tuttle, Crissy Tuttle, Rosey Ann Tuttle, Andrew Martin, And Sean Martin children of Lisa Yordy and Walter Martin; Adam Bollard and Alec Bollard, children of Denise Bollard and Ted Bollard; Michael McCook, Rory McCook, and Kerith Greenawalt, children of the late Ralph McCook. Henry has several great grandchildren and a great great grandchild, as well.
