John B. Lytle, Jr. of Medford, Oregon, formerly of Lebanon County, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, in Medford, Oregon, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a family man, a kind man, a caring man, and a man of his word. He was quiet and unassuming, even humble. He loved the members of his family unconditionally and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the son of Geraldine (Eckert) and John B. Lytle, he was raised in Corte Madera, California, before moving back to Lebanon, Pennsylvania in 1961. John graduated from Lebanon High School in 1965. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army in Germany from 1966 to 1968. After he was honorably discharged, he married Laura (Irwin) in 1969, and they settled in Medford, Oregon, with two periods of time spent residing in Jonestown and Myerstown, Pennsylvania. They recently celebrated 52 years of marriage in June of this year.
John enjoyed prospecting for gold, camping, hiking, playing golf, and writing science fiction stories. Several of his books were published.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving in addition to his loving wife Laura, are his sister Barbara Grabusky, Palmyra, PA; brother Paul, husband of Patty, Annville, PA; brother George, husband of Connie, Manheim, PA; daughter Amy Lytle; and grandchildren Brooklynn, Bethany, and Tiffany; and several great-grandchildren all of Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews. John is profoundly missed by his life-long best friend Fred Klopp, husband of Sandy, Lebanon, PA.
