The 29th-annual Polar Bear Plunge will be held noon tomorrow at Wind in the Willows in northern Lebanon County.
The nerves-testing event raises money for Developmental & Disability Services (DDS) of Lebanon Valley, Inc. DDS is a 501(c)3 that empowers people with development disabilities to achieve more satisfying, productive, and independent lives.
Gates open at 10:00am. DJ Jim Payne will be providing the tunes starting at 10:30am and food will be available for purchase through Timeless Cafe. The plunge will take place at noon.
Tomorrow is forecast to be a mostly clear day, with temperatures expected to be about 50º around the time of the plunge.
A number of teams have already raised thousands of dollars in pledges, including Team USA, Bear Sponsors, Team McGinnis, and Team Diehm & Sons.
Spectators are welcome and there is no mandatory admission fee (although donations at the gate are encouraged). Premium parking is available for a $20 fee by calling 717-274-3493.
Wind in the Willows is located at 35 Webster School Road in Grantville. Previously the event had been held at Willow Springs Park in Richland Borough. Here’s video from a few years ago, courtesy of WGAL-8.
