In a release distributed last night, Dawn Blauch of Palmyra announced her candidacy for Lebanon County Recorder of Deeds.

Blauch is a graduate of Lebanon High School and a member at large in the executive committee of the Lebanon County Republic Committee.

In the announcement, Blauch emphasized that she would protect the rights of property owners. “With the growing use of easements for everything from utility services to zoning setbacks to imposed conservation preservation, accurately recorded deeds are increasingly critical to providing property owners with peace of mind,” she is quoted as saying in the release.

According to the release, Blauch became engaged deeply in these issues as a critic of the South Londonderry Township Comprehensive Plan, and self-educated herself on zoning matters using Penn State Extension webinars.

Blauch currently serves as Code & Zoning Enforcement Officer for South Londonderry Township, noting in the release that the position requires her to be “both sensitive and businesslike with property owners” regarding the issues they face. Prior to her current position, Blauch served as a district court clerk.

Blauch will hold an official announcement event on Saturday at the Wetlands.

Last week, Dan Bost announced that he would be running to keep the position to which he had been appointed following the retirement of Donna Lutz

Blauch and Bost are so far the two declared Republican candidates who would be on the primary ballot when the election is held May 21. Although no Democratic candidate has been announced yet, a public discussion in the Lebanon County Democratic Committee Facebook group indicates the race is under active conversation and exploration.

Lutz was elected to her fifth and final four-year-term in 2015, beating Democrat Michael Deitz by a 2:1 margin.
