Another crash occurred today in northern Lebanon County due to a driver falling asleep at the wheel.

This morning around 6:15am, a 69 year old Pine Grove man fell asleep while traveling northbound on I-81 in Swatara Township near mile marker 94.6. The 2018 Hyundai Tucson veered off the roadway onto the shoulder and hit the end of a guardrail and a mile marker sign.

The car came to rest near the tree line and became stuck in mud. It was towed from the scene. The driver was charged with violation of driving on the right side of the roadway. No injuries were reported.

On Saturday a 59 year old Reading man fell asleep while driving on I-78. He too walked away unscathed.
