A potential training exercise scheduled for March 4-8 could bring a squadron of F-16’s out to Lebanon County.

But the exercise is not yet confirmed to be happening in this area and even if it does, don’t expect to see much of the simulated combat scenario, according to a military spokesperson. The relatively small fighter jets will be operating at high altitudes and moving extremely fast. At present, the New Jersey based 119th Fighter Squadron doesn’t know where they’re going.

If the operation does take place here, military operators from the 23rd Air Force Special Tactics unit will be on the ground in large dark colored SUV’s, and so a primary purpose of the military’s informing of the public was to avoid any confusion with reports to local authorities.

If the exercise is set to occur over Lebanon County, officials will be notified a couple of days beforehand letting them know of specific plans.

County Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz first posted to Facebook yesterday about the potential exercise.
