A 26 year old Lebanon man is dead following a shooting last night at 1036 Orchard Avenue in Lebanon.
After receiving a tip that a person had been shot at the address, police arrived around 10:20pm Wednesday to find James Joseph Jeter, III dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Police interviewed a witness at the scene who said that an argument occurred between Jeter and a 17 year old New York resident, Lindley “Jader” Thelismond. The two were said to have recently met.
During the argument, Thelismond is said to have reached into a drawer and grabbed a gun to start shooting at Jeter. Thelismond is said to have fatally shot Jeter before fleeing the house. He was apprehended on the 300 block of N. 12th Street within hours of the incident.
Police have recovered a handgun suspected to be used in the homicide, and no public safety threat is thought to exist at this time.
Thelismond has been charged as an adult with homicide. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Thomas Capello and incarcerated at Lebanon County Correctional Facility with no bail set.
Two other individuals have been charged in conjunction with this incident.
Matthew Correia, a 22 year old Lebanon man, and Richard Andino, a 35 year old Lebanon man, have both been charged as a result of this investigation. Correia was taken into custody on warrants from authorities in Lancaster County and Andino has been charged with attempting destruction of evidence and multiple counts of possession.
In a public Facebook Live video posted by Jeter, he discussed having just gotten out of incarceration, apparently in conjunction with a 2016 case involving receiving stolen property and unlicensed firearms.
A number of remembrances have already been posted to Jeter’s page, many acknowledging his love for his kids and music.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Lebanon City Police at 717-272-2054.
