Please note: The date of this event has been changed from April 25 to May 2.

It’s an unfortunate reality that scammers have a propensity to target senior citizens.

According to the FBI, senior citizens are often targeted due to a variety of factors, including being more likely to have savings and/or good credit and being less likely to report a scam. Seniors are also likely to have grown up in a generally more trusting and polite timeโ€”personality traits targeted by scammers.

Given all of the above, it’s especially important for seniors to be educated on the types of scams currently going around, and State Representative Frank Ryan (R-101) is doing just that with a seminar on April 25 May 2 (date updated on 4/23/19).

The seminar, titled “Scams And How To Prevent Them will take place in the 1st floor auditorium of the Lebanon Senior Center (710 Maple Street in Lebanon).

Topics will include identity theft, financial planning, living wills, and power of attorney abuse, and will feature a representative from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office.

This seminar is open to residents of the 101st District. This includes Lebanon City, Palmyra Borough, Cornwall Borough, West Cornwall, North Cornwall, South Annville, South Londonderry, and North Londonderry townships.

Space for the event is limited. Those looking to attend should RSVP by calling (717) 838-3823 or registering online at RepFrankRyan.com.
