Here are the most recent food safety violations in Lebanon County, as documented by Pennsylvania’s Department of Agriculture.

Inspections are taken as a “snapshot” of the day and time, and should not necessarily be taken as overall indicators of an establishment’s cleanliness. Violations are often corrected prior to the inspector leaving the site. Restaurants were found to be in compliance unless otherwise noted.

Observed fruit flies (less than five) in one bottle of liquor (dry vermouth).

The french fry slicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have dried residue and was not clean to sight and touch.

Observed food stored in walk in cooler , where it was subject to splash from ice buckets stored on overhead shelf.

Non-food contact surfaces such as shelves and handles not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.

4 – 903.11 (A-B)(D) Equipment, Utensils and Linens, Storing
Observed clean food equipment and/or utensils in dish washing area, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting).

4 – 601.11(A) Equipment, Food Contact Surfaces, Nonfood Contact Surfaces and Utensils
Multiple food containers on storage shelf were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Ice machine not cleaned at a frequency that prevents the presence of mold.

Raw chicken was stored above raw pork, in the display case and in the walk-in cooler.

Cases of raw eggs were stored on the top shelf of the walk-in cooler.

Raw chicken was stored above ready to eat foods in the walk-in cooler.

3 – 305.11 Food Storage, Preventing Contamination from the Premises
Observed numerous cartons of food stored directly on the floor in walk-in freezer, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.

4 – 602.13 Nonfood-Contact Surfaces
Interior of a chest-type freezer observed to have a very heavy build-up of frost. Frost is not a cleanable surface.

3 – 501.11 Frozen Food
Frozen food stored in a manner that does not allow for verification that there is adequate air circulation and that it is being maintained in a frozen state.

Food labels on meat in the display case do not identify the type of meat and do not include safe handling instructions.

Prepackaged green bananas are not labeled properly with the name of product, ingredient statement, net weight, distributed by statement and/or nutritional facts.

4 – 202.16 Nonfood Contact Surfaces
Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil; specifically cardboard is being used to line shelves, cardboard is not a cleanable surface.

Meat cutting knives, a food contact surface, were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch.

6 – 501.111 Controlling Pests
Potential rodent harborage areas on the exterior of the building perimeter observed around the rear and sides of the building due trash, debris and old equipment that is not required for the operation of a food facility.

5 – 202.12 Handwashing Sinks, Installation
The handwash sink located in the men’s room does not have a self-closing, slow-closing or metering faucet to provide water for 15 seconds without reactivation.

4 – 204.112 Design & Functionality of Temperature Measuring Devices
Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment was not available or readily accessible in one bain marie. Corrected.

4 – 202.11 Food-Contact Surfaces-Cleanability
Shelves of two refrigeration units and the bottom shelf of a prep table, non-food contact surfaces, are not smooth and easily cleanable.

4 – 302.14 Sanitizing Solutions, Testing Devices
Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.

The interior of the microwave, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
