The Lebanon County Area Agency on Aging (LCAAA) is looking for volunteer drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels in the Palmyra area.
If you need to get out of the house and meet people, while at the same time provide a valuable service to the community, this may be what you’re looking for.
Every day, the LCAAA delivers over 250 hot and cold meals to eligible persons over age 60 who cannot afford or cannot prepare their own meals. Last year, over 71,000 meals where delivered to homebound seniors in Annville, Myerstown, Palmyra and Lebanon, by volunteers using their own vehicles.
Increased demand for the Meals on Wheels service has created two new delivery routes in the Palmyra area. A typical day involves picking up the pre-packed meals at the Palmyra Senior Center on S. Railroad Street between 10:30 & 11:00am, delivering the meals and returning the carrier bags to the Senior Center. The whole process generally only takes about one hour.
Meals on Wheels are delivered Monday through Friday.
Volunteer schedules are very flexible, and can be arranged to suit your needs. They also have substitute schedules to help when the regular drivers take time off. Complete training is provided. All you need is your time and your own car.
If you’re interested in this volunteer opportunity, contact Stephanie Hafez at the Area Agency on Aging by calling 717-273-9262 or emailing Shafez@lebcnty.org.
