The new Dollar General on Route 72 by Eagle Rental in West Cornwall Township has now officially opened, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for Jan. 11.
The store—the eighth Dollar General location in Lebanon County—is located at 2550 Quentin Road.
The first 50 adult shoppers at the Jan. 11 grand opening ceremony will receive a $10 gift card, and the first 200 will receive a tote bag with product samples. Doors open at 8:00 a.m.
The West Cornwall Township location joins the company’s current locations in Lebanon County, which include:
- 1741 Quentin Road, Lebanon
- 507 Jonestown Road, Jonestown
- 1710 State Route 72 North, Lebanon
- 62 N Londonderry Sq, Palmyra
- 950 Church Street, Lebanon
- 470 W Lincoln Ave, Myerstown
- 54 E Main St, Newmanstown
The new store is part of a nationwide, and now years-long, mega-growth strategy by the discount retailer, which plans to add 1,000 locations in 2020.
Some communities have passed laws to curb the expansion of “dollar stores,” citing concerns that the clustering strategy discourages supermarkets and hurts independent grocers, while the stores also typically do not stock fresh produce.
The store uses a newer layout concept designed to make shopping simple for consumers. Milk, eggs, and other perishables are available at the store in coolers.
“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development in a release.
“We hope our area customers will enjoy shopping at Dollar General’s new location.”
The store is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. It is expected to employ six to 10 people, with job links available in our previous coverage.
