The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Sunday, March 21, that Lebanon County has three confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

The current statewide positive count is 479, a nearly 30% increase from the figure the state was confirming yesterday. The state has recorded 4,964 negative tests.

As far as neighboring counties, one case has now been confirmed by the state in both Dauphin County and Schuylkill County. Berks County has 13 confirmed cases and Lancaster County has six confirmed cases.

According to Bob Dowd, director of emergency services for Lebanon County, no information was available regarding which municipalities had confirmed cases, as all reporting is done by hospitals directly to the Department of Health, which is not releasing any more detail to the county than what is visible on the state website.

Previously, Northern Lebanon School District Superintendent Gary Messinger had confirmed to the Daily News that a resident of the district had tested positive for the coronavirus. The Lebanon Veterans Affairs Medical Center had also evaluated a patient who was a presumptive positive for coronavirus, with the veteran sent home to recover, but it was not clear that he resided in Lebanon County.
