East Hanover Township
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 7, 2020 at 3:58 p.m., this six-vehicle crash occurred on I 81 South at mile marker 83. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2016 Freightliner of an unknown model, failed to slow for traffic slowing in front of him. Unit 1 subsequently sideswiped Unit 3, a 2020 Freightliner of an unknown model, while simultaneously struck Unit 2, a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. After striking Unit 2 and Unit 3, Unit 1 rolled onto its driver’s side, striking Unit 4, a 2017 International Harvester of an unknown model, that had slowed for traffic in front of him. Unit 5, a 2016 Kenworth Northwest of an unknown model, swerved to avoid being struck by Unit 1 but was struck in the rear. Unit 6, an unknown make and model, who was slowing for the crash swerved off the roadway to avoid striking the vehicles in front of him and subsequently rolled onto its driver’s side. Operator 2 and Operator 3 sustained unknown minor injuries and were both transported to the Hershey Medical Center. No other injuries were sustained as a result of this crash. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by Hammers Towing, Triple K Towing, Life Lion EMS, Fort Indiantown Gap Fire, and Lebanon County Hazmat.
Vehicle Accident – On Aug. 7, 2020 at 4:40 p.m., this crash occurred along I 81 near mile marker 82.5. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2005 Kenworth International, Unit 2, and Unit 3 were traveling south along I 81 in the right lane of travel. Unit 3 applied his brakes due to a preliminary crash ahead. Unit 2 was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of Unit 3. Unit 1 was unable to stop in time and attempted to maneuver off the right shoulder. Unit 1 struck the trailer of Unit 2. Unit 1 sustained disabling front end damage from impact. Unit 2 sustained minor front end damage and was driven from the scene under its own power. Unit 3 sustained cosmetic rear end damage and was able to be driven from the scene under its own power. No injuries were reported on scene. Unit 1 and Unit 2’s trailer was towed by Triple K Fleet services.
Jonestown Borough
Reckless Endangerment – On Aug. 4, 2020 at 9:47 a.m., PSP Jonestown responded to East Market St. for a report of gunshots in the area. During investigation, empty shell casings were located on the back porch of a house located on the 100 block of East Market St. The Victim was a 62 year old Jonestown man. Investigation is ongoing.
Lebanon City
Drug Possession – On July 28, 2020 at 1:57 a.m., PSP Jonestown troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Hyundai Elantra on North 9th St. and Crowell St. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The Arrestee was a 31 year old Lebanon man. Appropriate charges are to be filed.
DUI – On July 26, 2020 at approximately 12:52 a.m., PSP Jonestown troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Toyota Corolla on Willow St. at its intersection with Jones St. The Operator showed signs of impairment and was subsequently taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence. Appropriate charges are to be filed.
Richland Borough
Firearm Violation – On Mar. 12, 2020 at 11:20 a.m., PSP Jonestown was requested to investigate a PICS violation that occurred at Richlands Shooters at South Park St. in Richland Boro. No charges have been filed. Investigation is ongoing.
South Lebanon Township
Drug Possession – On June 28, 2020 at 10:30 p.m., PSP Jonestown was requested to investigate contraband being brought into the Lebanon County Correctional Facility, located on East Walnut St. Investigation is ongoing.
Drug Possession – On July 23, 2020 at 10:15 a.m., PSP Jonestown was requested to investigate contraband being brought into the Lebanon County Correctional Facility, located on East Walnut St. Investigation is ongoing.
Swatara Township
Drug Possession – On Aug. 7, 2020 at 9:26 a.m., PSP Jonestown conducted a traffic stop on a red Chevrolet Blazer bearing a Maryland registration for a traffic violation on the 20 block of I 78 West at mile marker 2.5. During the traffic stop, the Operator (W/N-M, 23 year old from Oxford, MA) admitted to possessing marijuana and THC wax. Upon a probable cause search of the vehicle, a small amount of marijuana, two containers containing THC wax, and a THC oil cartridge and drug paraphernalia were found and seized for evidence. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by Trooper Sverchek. Appropriate charges are to be filed. PSP Jonestown is investigating.
Union Township
Theft – On Aug. 4, 2020 at approximately 9:03 a.m., PSP Jonestown troopers responded to a report of counterfeit currency at the American Legion on the 00 block of Fisher Ave. Troopers located a counterfeit $100 bill that was used at an unknown date and time. The Victim was American Legion. PSP Jonestown is investigating.
Theft – On July 22, 2020 at approximately 11:33 a.m., PSP Jonestown troopers were dispatched for a report of a bad check at Offroad Motorsports, located at 2309 SR 72. Through the investigation, it was learned it was a banking issue and no crime was committed.
