Bethel Township
DUI – On Sept. 6, 2020 at 9:43 p.m., members of PSP Jonestown responded to the I 78 West for a report of a disabled motorist. The vehicle Operator was found to be intoxicated and placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The vehicle involved was a 2005 Toyota Avalon.
City of Lebanon
DUI – On Sept. 19, 2020 at 1:07 a.m., at South Lincoln Ave. and Federal St., a traffic stop conducted by members of PSP Jonestown found the Operator to be under the influence of alcohol. Charges for this incident are pending forensic blood analysis results. The vehicle involved was a 2007 General Motors Corp Sierra.
DUI – On Sept. 3, 2020 at 11:12 p.m., State Police troopers stopped a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta on the 200 block of Maple St. for a traffic violation. The Operator displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently taken into custody for the suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. Troopers are investigating.
DUI – On Sept. 19, 2020 at 2:22 a.m., the Operator/Arrestee, a 34 year old Lebanon man was stopped for a traffic violation at West Maple St. and Maple St. During the stop, it was determined that the Operator was DUI. The Operator was arrested for DUI and taken for a blood test at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. Charges are pending blood results. The vehicle involved was a 2010 Subaru Impreza Outback.
Cold Spring Township
Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 21, 2020 at 6:27 p.m., this one-vehicle crash occurred on Goldmine Rd. in Cold Spring Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Operator 1, a 41 year old Lebanon man, was traveling southbound on Gold Mine Rd. While traveling south, Unit 1 struck a boulder on the roadway with its front passenger’s side tire. Unit 1 was disabled in the crash. Operator 1 was not injured as a result of this crash. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by Joe May’s Towing and Jolliet Fire.
East Hanover Township
Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 22, 2020 at 6:43 a.m., this crash occurred on SR 22 West (Allentown Blvd.) at its intersection with Bullfrog Rd. in East Hanover Twp.
SR 22, in the area of this crash, is a four-lane divided highway with two westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes of travel. The westbound and eastbound lanes are divided by a center concrete island. Both sides of SR 22 have a useable right shoulder. The posted speed limit is 55 mph. Bullfrog Rd. intersects with SR 22 on both the westbound and eastbound sides and is unobstructed. Traffic entering SR 22 from Bullfrog Rd. is controlled by legally posted stop signs.
Unit 1 was traveling south on Bullfrog Rd. and entered the right westbound lane of SR 22 without stopping at the stop sign-controlled intersection. Unit 2, a 2013 Ford Focus, driven by Operator 2, Julie Keiter, a 24 year old Fredericksburg woman, was traveling westbound in the right lane of SR 22 and had to swerve to the left to avoid striking Unit 1. After swerving left, Unit 2 struck a “Truck and Bus No U-Turn” signpost in the center concrete divider. After initial impact, Unit 2 entered the left eastbound lane of SR 22. Unit 2 then drove through the center grass median and re-entered the westbound lanes of SR 22. Unit 2 came to final rest, facing west along the right westbound shoulder of SR 22. Operator 2 was not injured as a result of this crash.
Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 21, 2020 at 9:17 a.m., this crash occurred in the parking lot of Funck’s Gas Station, located at 1805 North SR 934 in East Hanover Twp. Operator 1, for an unknown reason, did not ensure the area was clear prior to backing up and in doing so struck a building. Unit 1, a 2019 Hino 268A, sustained damage to the rear. The rear driver’s side roof was scratched. The building sustained damage to the gutter and roof. Operator 1 was wearing a seatbelt at the time of this crash and reported no injuries. No airbags were deployed as a result of this crash. Both Operator 1 and Property Owner were issued a Non-reportable Drivers Exchange Report and an Application to Receive a Copy of the Crash Report (SP 7-20015TX) on scene.
North Lebanon Township
DUI – On Sept. 18, 2020 at 11:49 p.m., the Operator/Arrestee, a 33 year old Lebanon man, was stopped for a traffic violation at 19th St. and East Lehman St. During the stop, it was determined that the Operator was DUI. The Operator was arrested for DUI and taken to the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon for a blood test. Charges are pending blood alcohol test. The vehicle involved was a 2001 General Motors Corp Jimmy.
Pine Grove Township
Vehicle Accident, Driving Vehicle At Safe Speed – On Sept. 21, 2020 at 3:28 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 1, a 62 year old Benton man, was traveling north on I 81 near mile marker 103.5 in Pine Grove Twp. Unit 1 was attempting to negotiate a sweeping left curve when Operator 1 lost control. Unit 1 subsequently left the roadway and struck the guide rail before overturning. The trailing Unit of Unit 1 was transporting an empty propane tank which was removed from the trailer upon impact. The propane tank rolled down the embankment at this location and struck a utility pole on SR 125. The propane tank then came to its position of final rest, blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes of SR 125. Operator 1 reported no injuries as a result of this crash. Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Trail Towing. Operator 1 was charged with Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.
Swatara Township
Criminal Mischief $1,000+ – On Sept. 14, 2020 at 10:34 a.m., PSP Jonestown responded to East Hazel St. for a report of a criminal mischief. Upon arrival, the Victim’s vehicle’s front headlights were spray painted. The windows to the vehicle were smashed and the side view mirrors were ripped off. The Victim was a 38 year old Jonestown man. The vehicle involved was a 2009 Dodge Chrysler. Investigation is ongoing.
Union Township
Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 22, 2020 at approximately 6:02 a.m., PSP Jonestown responded to a reported crash involving a deer in the roadway. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Operator 1, a 27 year old Tower City man, was traveling south on Moonshine Rd. (SR 443) when a deer went onto the roadway and was subsequently struck by Unit 1.
