False rumors have been circulating that the Nov. 3 election will see a new polling place for the North Londonderry East precinct.
According to Lebanon County Bureau of Elections Director Michael Anderson, the voting location remains the same as it was for the June primary: the Stoneback Pavilion at the Londonderry Village retirement facility, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra.
The source of the rumor seems to be a mistaken belief that the entire Londonderry Village campus is on a COVID-19 lockdown. A reader recently wrote “A question about change of polling site for voters who formerly voted inside. Londonderry Village which is now on lockdown. I have seen nothing about change of polling site………..“
Stoneback Pavilion is a freestanding building, separate from other campus structures such as the nursing and residential units.
Londonderry Village’s president, Jeff Shireman, confirmed on Oct. 6 that only the nursing unit currently bars visitors. Stoneback Pavilion and all other parts of campus allow visitors, subject to usual COVID restrictions such as masks, physical distancing, and temperature checks.
Shireman added on the morning of Oct. 6 that there were no confirmed COVID infections among residents or staff.
As in previous elections, there will be ample parking for voters at the pavilion, and signs will clearly point the way to the polling location. A special driveway from Grubb Road to Stoneback Pavilion will be opened for election day, and people will be stationed to direct traffic.
