Train Vs. Car Accident – On Dec. 12, 2020 at 3:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a train versus car accident at the railroad crossing of North Lincoln Ave. Police learned that a 61 year old South Lebanon woman attempted to travel across the railroad gates after a westbound train had cleared the intersection on the southern RR tracks. She stated a few other vehicles also went around the gates; however, the gates were in the down position due to an eastbound train on the northern RR tracks. As she crossed the tracks, the train struck the front of her car, spinning the car sideways. The woman was not injured and the car sustained minor damage. The train stopped after impact and reported its speed to be 38 mph at the time of the accident. The Engineer and Conductor were not injured. Traffic citations will be filed against her.
Fatal Accident – On Dec. 13, 2020 at 12:34 p.m., police were dispatched to a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and car at 10th St. and Lehman St. Police determined the car was traveling west on Lehman St. and the motorcycle was traveling south on 10th St. The motorcyclist struck the right rear passenger door area of the Hyundai Tucson. The motorcyclist was alone on the bike and was not wearing a helmet. The Lebanon County Coroner and the Lebanon City Police are releasing the name of the motorcyclist, Jose Rivera-Rivera, a 37 year old Lebanon resident, was fatally injured as a result of the accident. The driver of the car is identified as a 66 year old Lebanon man. Video evidence of the intersection is being reviewed. An investigation by the Lebanon County District Attorney’s Serious Traffic Accident Response Team is ongoing. Heidelberg Township
Fatal Accident – On Dec. 15, 2020 at 4:25 a.m., preliminary investigation revealed that Unit 1 was traveling east on SR 897, located near the intersection of SR 897 and Mountain Rd. in Heidelberg Twp., attempted to negotiate a right curve in the roadway, and traveled off the left side of the roadway. Unit 1 struck a tree stump, went airborne, struck a tree, and then rolled over, coming to final rest. Upon arrival of EMS and the Fire Departments on scene, it was determined that a 5 year old child was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene by the Lebanon County Coroner. Operator 1 was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. Operator 1 was unconscious and transported to the Hershey Medical Center. No further update on Operator 1’s condition is available at this time. Operator 1 was a 27 year old Reamstown man. Passenger 1 was a 5 year old Reamstown boy. Jackson Township
Death – On Dec. 12, 2020 sometime between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., State Police responded to North Ramona Rd. for a report of a death. Upon arrival, the Victim, a 59 year old W/N-M, was found deceased in a bathroom. It appeared as though the Victim died of natural causes. Nothing suspicious was observed at the scene. The Victim was a 59 year old Myerstown man.
Myerstown Borough
Criminal Mischief Under $1,000 – On Dec. 11, 2020 at 11:30 a.m., State Police responded to West Park Ave. for a criminal mischief. Investigation revealed that the Victim and the Suspect became involved in a verbal altercation the prior night at a local bar. During the verbal altercation, the Suspect punched the Victim’s car door numerous times, causing a dent. The Victim was a 27 year old Myerstown woman. Investigation is ongoing.
Harassment – On Dec. 12, 2020 at 9:07 a.m., PSP responded to South Cherry St. in Myerstown Boro. for a report of a domestic altercation. During the investigation, it was discovered that a physical altercation took place between a boyfriend and girlfriend. No injuries were reported or observed. Charges for Harassment will be filed against both Actors. The Victims/Arrestees were a 55 year old Lebanon man and a 43 year old Myerstown woman. PSP is investigating.
South Annville Township
Theft – On Nov. 25, 2020 at 10:44 p.m., PSP Jonestown responded to Forney Ln. for a firearm stolen from the residence. The Victim was a 56 year old Lebanon woman. The stolen property included a black Smith & Wesson MP Shield, valued at $450.00. Investigation is ongoing. South Londonderry Township
Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 10, 2020 at 6:12 p.m., the South Londonderry Twp. police department was called to South Forge Rd. and Northside Dr., the Traffic Circle, for a two-vehicle crash with no injuries. It was found that Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 49 year old Lebanon man, had been traveling east on Northside Dr. Operator 1 failed to yield when entering the Circle and struck Unit 2, driven by Operator 2, a 25 year old man resident, who had been traveling south. Unit 2 required towing. A citation for Stop Signs and Yield Signs was filed against Operator 1.
Harassment – On Dec. 3, 2020 at 2:32 p.m., a 19 year old Palmyra man did yell vulgarities outside that did harass, alarm, and/or annoy neighbors in the 300 block of Old Farm Rd.
Vehicle Accident – On Dec. 11, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m., this hit-and-run accident occurred as a utility pole was damaged in the 1,900 block of South Forge Rd. after it was struck by a white pickup truck pulling a trailer. The striking vehicle left the scene before police were called by a witness. If anyone has information about this incident, please call the South Londonderry Twp. police at 717-838-1376.
Swatara Township
Theft – On Dec. 11, 2020 at 6:40 p.m., State Police responded to Arrow Ct. for a report of a theft. Through investigation, it was learned that an unknown individual utilized the Victim’s Wal-Mart account and credit card information to purchase an iPhone 7. The Victim was a 47 year old Jonestown woman. The stolen property included money used from the Victim’s bank card, valued at $168.54. Investigation is ongoing.
Accidental Fire – On Dec. 13, 2020 at approximately 12:30 p.m., a fire occurred on the 400 block of South Lancaster St. in Swatara Twp. An investigation into the origin and cause of the fire was conducted by the Troop L Reading Fire Marshal Unit. The investigation revealed that the fire originated within a bedroom. The fire gutted the bedroom and living room, and smoke, heat, and water damaged the remainder of the house. The cause of this fire has not been definitively established at this time. Investigation is to continue. Bunker Hill Fire Officials assisted with this investigation. Damage is estimated in excess of $75,000.00. The Victim was a 60 year old Lebanon woman. No other injuries were reported.
Drug Possession – On Dec. 10, 2020 at 5:57 p.m., PSP Jonestown troopers conducted a traffic stop at Lickdale Rd. and Darkes Rd. for a vehicle code violation. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a small amount of marijuana was discovered. The Operator of the vehicle was taken into custody for DUI. Appropriate charges are to be filed. The vehicles involved included a 2012 Ford Fusion.
Union Township
Vehicle Accident – On Nov. 30, 2020 at 12:10 a.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon, driven by Operator 1, Patrick Hanratty, a 41 year old Machias, ME man, was traveling north on SR 72, just south of Fisher Ave. in Union Twp. Unit 1 left the roadway in a straight line on the east grass shoulder and collided with a utility pole. Unit 1 continued traveling north on the grass shoulder, approximately 100-150 feet, where it collided head-on with a tree. Operator 1 was injured as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Operator 1 was transported via Life Lion to the Hershey Medical Center for further treatment. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Controlled Substance, or Controlled Substances.
