Bethel Township

Vehicle Accident – On Jan. 31, 2021 at 4:47 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Operator 1, was traveling north on I 81 in the area of mile marker 96.8 in Swatara Twp., when it lost control on snow-covered roads and struck an unknown object, causing damage to its 5 o’clock position. Unit 1 was driven from the scene. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

Vehicle Accident – On Jan. 31, 2021 at 12:59 p.m., this reportable crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2006 Dodge Dakota, driven by Operator 1, a 23 year old Annville man, was traveling westbound on Stracks Dam Rd. in Bethel Twp. Operator 1 was attempting to negotiate a left curve when he lost control of Unit 1 and traveled across the eastbound lane and collided with an embankment. Initial impact occurred as the front bumper of Unit 1 struck an embankment on the left side of the roadway. Unit 1 rolled over, landed right side up, and came to final rest in a field on the right side of the roadway, facing southeast. Operator 1 had minor injuries and refused EMS transport. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

East Hanover Township

Vehicle Accident – On Feb. 1, 2021 at 8:28 a.m., this collision occurred as Unit 1, a 2017 Freightliner Truck Tractor, driven by Operator 1, a 25 year old Fayetteville man, was traveling south on I 81 in the left lane when it traveled off of the left shoulder and struck the guide wire post. After impact, Unit 1 continued north, striking seven other posts for the guidewire. Unit 1 then traveled back into the left lane of travel, where it jackknifed, blocking both lanes of travel. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

Vehicle Accident – On Feb. 1, 2021 at 3:27 a.m., this crash occurred as a result of Unit 1, a 2014 Freightliner, driven by Operator 1, a 37 year old Columbus man, traveling too fast for the conditions. There was a preexisting scene ahead which resulted in the right lane being closed. Operator 1 was unable to bring his vehicle to a controlled stop as a result of going too fast. As a result, Unit 1 traveled up an embankment and rolled over. The trailing unit disconnected from the tractor and slid down the interstate approximately 50 feet. I 81 Northbound was closed for approximately three hours. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. PSP Jonestown was assisted by PSP Harrisburg in the road closure at Exit 80 Northbound.

Vehicle Accident – On Jan. 31, 2021 at 4:21 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a an unknown make and model, driven by Operator 1, and Unit 2, a 2014 Kia Soul, driven by Operator 2, a 31 year old New York, NY man, were traveling north (east) on I 81 North, just west of Exit 85 in East Hanover Twp. Unit 1 was traveling behind Unit 2 when Unit 1 attempted to change lanes and collided with the rear of Unit 2. Unit 2 began sliding sideways, subsequently colliding with the guide rail with the front left side of its vehicle. After colliding with the guide rail, Unit 2 continued sliding/spinning east on the shoulder of the highway. Unit 2 came to final rest against the guide rail on its passenger’s side. It is unknown whether Operator 1 sustained any injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 2 sustained suspected minor injuries as a result of this crash but refused transport.

Jonestown Borough

Theft – On Jan. 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., troopers of PSP Jonestown station responded to West Swatara Dr. for a report of a theft. Upon arrival on scene, it was determined that the Arrestee stole numerous items from the Victim(s)’s residence. The Arrestee later pawned the Victim(s)’s items. On Jan. 27, 2021 at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Arrestee was taken into custody and transported to the Lebanon County Central Booking Center. The Victim was a 42 year old Jonestown man. The Arrestee was Troy Raffensperger, a 40 year old Lititz man. The Victim was National Jewelry and Pawn in Lebanon. The vehicles involved included a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier.

North Londonderry Township

State Dog Law Violations – On Jan. 25, 2021 at 4:00 p.m., an 18 year old Palmyra man was cited for multiple violations under the state dog law. The citations were issued in connection with an incident that took place on Jan. 25, 2021 on the 500 block of Eisenhower Rd. His dog was found running at large. The man then failed to produce the required vaccination and licensing records for the dog. He was cited for Vaccinations Required, Confinement and Housing of Dogs Not Part of a Kennel, and Transfer of Dog License or Tags and Other Requirements.

South Londonderry Township

Vehicle Accident – Police responded to a single-vehicle accident during the snowstorm on Jan. 31, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Lingle Ave. and Northside Dr. Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 36 year old Palmyra woman, had been traveling south on South Lingle Ave. and turned left onto Northside Dr., losing control on the snow-covered road. Unit 1 struck the curb on Northside Dr., disabling the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Operator 1 was cited for Driving With an Expired Registration.
