Bethel Township

DUI – On Feb. 4, 2021 at 9:50 p.m., members of PSP Jonestown responded to SR 22 and East Main St. for a reported disabled motorist. Investigation into this incident found the vehicle Operator to be under the influence of alcohol. Charges for this incident have been filed through Magisterial District Court 52-3-03. The Arrestee was a 44 year old Lebanon man. The vehicles involved included a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Criminal Trespass – Sometime between Feb. 15, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. and Feb. 20, 2021 at 8:09 a.m., State Police responded to Blue Mountain Rd. for a report of snowmobiles trespassing on a field owned by the Victim. The Victim was an 85 year old Fredericksburg woman.

East Hanover Township

Criminal Trespass – On Feb. 23, 2021 at 5:46 p.m., State Police responded to Jonestown Rd. for a trespassing incident. Through investigation it was determined that unknown individual(s) traveled through a field owned by the Victim. The Victim was a 26 year old Jonestown man.

Heidelberg Township

Fatal Fire – On Feb. 23, 2021 at 3:52 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to the 300 block of South Lancaster Ave. for a structure fire. During firefighting operations, the Victim was found in the basement of the residence. The Victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Lebanon County Coroner’s Office. The fire, which was determined to be accidental, originated in the basement. The Victim was Kenneth Eckert, an 84 year old Schaefferstown resident.

Vehicle Accident – On Feb. 21, 2021 at 12:15 a.m., this collision occurred as Unit 1, a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Operator 1, an 18 year old Newmanstown man, was traveling south on SR 501, when Operator 1 failed to negotiate a left curve and lost control of Unit 1. Unit 1 traveled off of the right side of the roadway and initially struck a snowbank. After impact, Unit 1 continued in a southwest direction, where it struck the property owner fence. After impact, Unit 1 traveled into a field, where it came to final rest in a ditch, facing in an east direction. Operator 1 was not injured as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

Jackson Township

DUI – On Feb. 18, 2021 at 12:20 a.m., at West Main Ave. and South Ramona Rd., members of PSP Jonestown observed two vehicles which had driven off of the roadway and into a field. Investigation into this incident found the vehicle Operators to be under the influence of alcohol. Charges for this incident are pending forensic blood analysis results. The vehicles involved included a 2007 Chrysler and a 2002 Toyota Camry.

North Lebanon Township

Drug Possession – On Feb. 22, 2021 at 3:26 a.m., at Ebenezer Rd. and Perry St., a traffic stop conducted by members of PSP Jonestown found the vehicle Operator to be under the influence of controlled substances. A search of the vehicle yielded the seizure of additional drug items and paraphernalia. Charges for this incident are pending forensic blood analysis results. The vehicles involved included a 2002 Honda Civic Del Sol.

South Londonderry Township

Theft, Loitering And Prowling At Night – On Oct. 10, 2020 at 12:15 a.m., the South Londonderry Twp. police investigated a theft of a yard sign from the 300 block of Stonebrook Dr. in Palmyra. After a police investigation, it was discovered, by using a video, that Taylor Sweeney, a 23 year old Hershey resident, had removed the sign from the porch of a residence in the 300 block of Stonebrook Dr. and was loitering/prowling at the residence at approximately 12:15 a.m. Sweeney was cited for Theft and Loitering and Prowling at Night.

Vehicle Accident – On Feb. 20, 2021 at 9:42 a.m., the South Londonderry Twp. police was dispatched to the area of the roundabout at South Forge Rd. and Northside Dr. for a report of a motor vehicle accident. It was later determined that Unit 1, a vehicle traveling south on South Forge Rd., driven by Operator 1, a Grantville resident, struck Unit 2, another vehicle, driven by Operator 2, a Lebanon resident, traveling west in the roundabout. Icy road conditions likely contributed to the collision.

Swatara Township

Vehicle Accident – On Feb. 22, 2021 at 9:57 a.m., this crash occurred on I 81 North at mile marker 93.4 in Swatara Twp. Unit 1, a 2019 Kia Optima, driven by Operator 1, a 21 year old Middletown man, was traveling southbound in the left lane of I 81 South. Unit 1 applied the brakes, slid, and rear-ended Unit 2, a 2006 Ford F350, driven by Operator 2, a 35 year old Gilberton man, which was at a complete stop due to a prior crash. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Unit 1 was towed from the scene. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

Vehicle Accident – On Feb. 22, 2021 at 9:42 a.m., this crash occurred on I 81 South at mile marker 92.3 in Swatara Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2016 FTL, driven by Operator 1, a 29 year old Albemarle, NC man, was traveling south at excessive speeds for snowy conditions. Unit 1 then impacted the rear end of Unit 2, a 2020 Ford SUV, driven by Operator 2, a 73 year old Rome, NY man, in the roadway. Unit 2 then hit the guide rail and came to final rest on the shoulder. Unit 1 continued south and struck the rear end of Unit 3, a 2020 Freightliner TT, driven by Operator 3, a 33 year old Baltimore, MD man. Unit 1 then jackknifed and struck an embankment, blocking both lanes of I 81 South. Unit 3 came to final rest in the travel lanes. There were no injuries as a result of the crash. Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Hammer’s Towing. Unit 2 was towed from the scene by Motter’s Towing. I 81 South was closed at mile marker 100 for approximately three hours as the scene was cleared. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed and Roadways Laned for Traffic.
