Lebanon City police are investigating an apparent assault with a firearm in regards to an incident on Friday, July 23.

Officers were dispatched at 4:56 a.m. Friday to the 700 block of Walnut Street, where a 20-year-old male victim was discovered with an apparent single gunshot wound, according to a police statement. The victim was said to be in critical condition at a local medical facility.

No firearm was recovered at the scene, but police said the investigation is ongoing. Police noted that they do not think this was a random act, with the victim and offender believed to have had previous contact.
