Bet you weren’t expecting to hear a first call for snow projections today! However, we expect winter storm watches or advisories to be issued shortly.

Despite temps on Friday being expected to climb into the mid to upper 50s, temps will start to crash late Friday night as a winter storm enters our region.

Heavy rain will develop after midnight and continue until around 4-7 a.m. Saturday morning when rain changes rapidly to HEAVY WET SNOW as temps crash.

Winds will rapidly increase with some 20-30mph sustained, and gusts well over 45mph at times.

Temps will continue to crash through Saturday, as 20s are hit mid morning as snow becomes fluffy in nature. Snow will blow and drift despite road crews’ best efforts, and driving conditions look to be terrible until after 4 p.m. Even after 4 p.m., conditions will still be terrible to say the least as power outages are likely with blowing and drifting continuing into Sunday morning before winds die off.

Total snow fall projections, as of Friday morning, we are going with 2-5 inches. Despite the relatively amount, the wind and crashing temps alone warrant concern. Stay safe!
