Prior to the influx of those pesky summer mosquitoes, the Lebanon County Conservation District will hold its annual tire collection event on Wednesday, April 13.

“Rainwater accumulates in tires, creating an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes so it’s important to properly dispose of old tires,” district manager Katie Doster explained in an email to LebTown about the disposal opportunity.

Lebanon County residents can dispose of a limited number of tires free of charge. The initiative is funded by Lebanon County and its municipalities.

Because funding for this event is limited, residents are encouraged to pre-register to ensure there’s capacity for their tires.

Driver’s licenses or other proof of residency will be required at the event, which will be held on April 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Expo Center at 80 Rocherty Road. Non-Lebanon residents and tire-related businesses must pay for disposal.

Pre-registrations can be sent by postal mail, email, phone, or fax. You can find a registration form and contact information on the event flyer here (PDF).

To be eligible for disposal, tires must be off the rim, drained of water, unburned, and not excessively dirty. A maximum of 12 automobile tires, two oversized tires (25″ rim diameter or greater), or six automobile tires and one oversized tire can be donated per resident.

The charge for additional tires or non-residents is $3 per automobile tire and $25 per oversized tire.
