KFC will open its second Lebanon County franchise location in the former Hometown Family Restaurant in Palmyra, according to a recent real estate listing.
The famous fried chicken company already operates locations locally in Lebanon and Hummelstown.
A Bennett Williams Commercial brochure for 1 N. Londonderry Square shows the 8,239-square-foot building being subdivided into four separate suites, with KFC to occupy a 2,112-square-foot suite with a drive-thru window on the building’s western exposure.
“This site presents a rare opportunity for any retailer to enter a very strong retail market,” reads the brochure.
The news was first shared by local realtor David Becker on the Facebook page for Team Becker Realtors, the four-person firm he and his wife, Carin, had started some seven years back. The firm is focused on the area between Annville and Hummelstown, putting development activity on Route 422 squarely on the Beckers’ radar.
Becker said that he noticed that construction had recently started on the site and found the listing after poking around some of the commercial real estate websites.
Becker noted that the fate of the property had been a frequent topic of conversation in local Facebook group Palmyra FYI.
“That stuff, for me, is more exciting to share than a house being sold,” said Becker of the development news, which had more than 130 shares as of publication time.
An email to KFC owner Yum! Brands regarding the new location had not received a response by publication time.
