LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The Pet of the Week will sometimes be a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. On other occasions, the column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet Zeus!

Zeus is a Cane Corso mix “who loves to play with toys, lounge in the sun and get all the attention” from his people, a shelter representative explains. He was surrendered to the shelter in April, the shelter noted, and was “pretty sad and confused” for a while.

But the 3-year-old pup bounced back after getting lots of “love, food, exercise and attention” from the shelter staff and volunteers.

According to Zeus’s puppy profile, “I love going out into the yard and running around while I chew my toys. I can be nervous of strangers at first, but it doesnโ€™t take long for me to warm up and like you. I would do great in a home with someone who has experience with my breed.”

His profile adds: “Since I am such a big boy and sometimes I can play rough, I would do better in a home with older children if possible. I love getting treats from people whenever they see me and will bring my toys back to you โ€ฆ after you throw them. Trying to get my exercise and stay in shape!!”

Zeus usually gets along with other dogs, but the shelter says anyone looking to expand their family should schedule a meet-and-greet with Zeus to make sure it’s a good fit.

“Zeus is a big, playful guy looking for a forever family to help him decompress, trust and love again,” a shelter spokesperson said. “He enjoys the simple pleasures of life. Companionship, affection, boundaries and stability are what he needs. Are you a match for Zeus?”

If you are interested in learning more about Zeus or setting up an appointment to meet him, please contact the Humane Society at (717) 628-1369 or visit the shelter online at lebanonhumane.org for more information on the adoption process.

P.S. Great news! We are happy to announce that Eloise and Nix, a bonded pair of sweet kitties featured as LebTown’s Pets of the Week on July 15, have been adopted! Congratulations to this dynamic duo!

Eloise chills while Nix enjoys a chin rub from a Humane Society volunteer.
