A Lebanon VA Medical Center physician was named the 2022 Family Physician of the Year Award by the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians Society.

Dr. Hugh E. Palmer received the award from Dr. Jessica Masser, president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Society, at a ceremony Aug. 6.

Palmer, a 1977 graduate of Pennsylvania State University and a 1981 graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, received the award for outstanding service to the osteopathic profession.

He began working with the York VA Community Clinic in 2016 following 35 years in family practice.

“I am both honored and humbled by receiving this award,” said Palmer in a press release. “At this point in your career, you don’t expect to receive this type of recognition.”

“After 40 years of service in family medicine, I treat all Veterans as if they are in a family practice.”
