District Custodian

Clean and maintain an assigned school facility, group of buildings, or office in a clean, orderly, and secure manner. District facilities will be safe, attractive, clean, and efficient for students, employees, and the community.

Maintenance-Building Manager (Cedar Crest High School)

Cornwall-Lebanon School District is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance-Building Manager at Cedar Crest High School.

$22.68/per hour

Benefits:

  • 8 Hours per Day (twelve month position)
  • Three (3) Personal Leave Days (Pro-rated based on start date)

Responsibilities:

Responsible to care for and keep District buildings clean and orderly, internally and externally and supervise the custodial staff in performing these duties. Perform a wide variety of maintenance work in a particular building to allow safe and efficient use by the employees, students, and community.

Essential Functions:

  • Responds productively to service requests pertaining to building facilities, including the indoor pool.
  • Observes, identifies, and reacts to deficiencies in the building, including, but not limited to, mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical systems, pneumatic systems, structural systems, grounds, plumbing, and carpentry. This person shall ensure necessary repairs are completed to maintain a clean and efficient facility for all employees, students, and community.
  • Assists administration with the preparation of facilities and equipment for all special events, when needed.
  • Directs and supervises all high school building custodial personnel.
  • Evaluates and recommends the purchasing needs of the building, including equipment supplies and services.
  • Maintains an orderly and neat work shop and storage area. Necessary supplies are on hand, segregated and stored safely and securely.

Other Functions

  • Must be willing to work overtime, evenings and weekends, in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to be reassigned to unspecified duties when required to meet special needs or emergencies such as snow removal.
  • Must be willing to react to change productively and complete other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Operates snow removal equipment to maintain district roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks, as needed.
  • Other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Valid PA driverโ€™s license.
  • Current PA Department of Agriculture pesticide license, including Category 24, Swimming Pools (must be obtained within 90 days of employment).

Special Skills:

  • Ability to operate power tools (Ex. drills, circular saw, reciprocating saws, etc.).
  • Ability to use computer technology efficiently, i.e., electronic mail, internet, word, and spread sheet programs for communication, research, or documentation purposes.
  • A broad mechanical aptitude and related problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as, part of a team.
  • Ability to complete required work using safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work indoors in normal use areas as well as in crawl spaces, above ceilings, pipe tunnels, at heights (approximately 40 feet) and outdoors in all seasons to maintain a safe and functional school district.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength and dexterity, i.e., ability to lift approximately 100 lbs., climb ladders to approximately 40 feet high.
  • Ability to walk for extended period of time.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

Sensory Abilities:

  • Visual acuity to perform observations on mechanical equipment and other physical plant items, to determine proper operation.
  • Auditory acuity to be able to determine proper mechanical equipment operations
  • Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.

Temperament:

  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.
  • Must be cooperative, congenial, and service oriented.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to be flexible.

Mental Demands:

  • Ability to follow instructions both orally and written, i.e., service calls, technical specifications, wiring and control diagrams, operations and maintenance information.
  • Ability to use initiative in work assignments, making such repairs as may be necessary without specific instruction
  • Ability to function in fast-paced and high-pressure work setting.

Environment:

  • May include exposure to hot temperatures, cold temperatures, sudden change in temperatures, noise, slippery surfaces, rain and snow.
