Lebanon County Career & Technology Center pastry chef instructor Brian Peffley was named the 2023 Pennsylvania ProStart Educator of the Year.
The award was presented to Peffley at an awards ceremony on March 1 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel during the 9th annual Pennsylvania ProStart Student Invitational.
According to a press release, the award is presented annually to recognize culinary arts educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, along with passion, commitment, and creativity in all aspects of the two-year ProStart program, which is offered by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation in partnership with local partners.
As the recipient of the PA ProStart Educator of Excellence Award, Peffley will be part of a pool of nominees for a variety of national educator awards from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, including the top honor, the James H. Maynard Excellence in Education Award. The national awards will be announced in May.
In 2021, Peffley was previously recognized for student development and program leadership as Educator of the Year by SkillsUSA.
