Heidelberg Township
Vehicle Accident, Stop Signs and Yield Signs, Vehicle Inspection, Vehicle Registration – At approximately 6:34 a.m. March 27, a 2019 GMC V3500 driven by a 22-year-old Harrisburg man, accompanied by a 37-year-old Lebanon man and a 25-year-old Myerstown man, stopped at the stop sign on Valley View Road and turned right onto North Market Street. A 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by a 37-year-old Newmanstown man was traveling north on North Market Street and crested over the hill at the intersection of Valley View Road. The Newmanstown man braked hard and crashed into the rear of the GMC. The Harrisburg man and the Myerstown man were wearing seatbelts; the Lebanon man was not. None of the GMC’s occupants sustained injuries. It is unknown whether the Newmanstown man was wearing a seatbelt. He sustained a suspected minor facial injury and was not transported. Police charged the Harrisburg man with stop signs and yield signs. Police also charged the Newmanstown man with vehicle inspection and vehicle registration. Leffler’s Service towed the Mitsubishi from the scene. Schaefferstown Fire Company assisted.
Vehicle Accident, Stop Signs and Yield Signs – At 7:42 p.m. March 29, a 2006 Subaru Outback was traveling north on Prescott Road, and a 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling west (north) on SR 897. The driver of the Subaru failed to yield the right-of-way after stopping at a stop sign and struck the left side of the Toyota. The Subaru sustained minor damage to the front end, and the Toyota sustained major damage to the left side. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and no airbags were deployed. No injuries were reported. Police charged the driver of the Subaru with stop signs and yield signs.
Jackson Township
Vehicle Accident – At 5:15 a.m. March 27, a crash occurred on South College Street at King Street involving vehicles driven by a 79-year-old Lebanon man and a 28-year-old Myerstown woman accompanied by a 40-year-old Lebanon man Lebanon. All those involved were wearing seatbelts. The 79-year-old Lebanon man and the Myerstown woman sustained no injuries. The 40-year-old Lebanon man sustained possible injuries but was not transported.
Myerstown Borough
Vehicle Accident, Following Too Closely – At 3:55 p.m. March 28, a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by a 22-year-old Pine Grove woman was traveling north on SR 501. She was distracted by using a handheld mobile device. When the Ford approached slow traffic, she was unaware of slower traffic and rear-ended a 2023 Kia Sportage driven by a 44-year-old York man. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and no injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Leffler’s. Police charged the Pine Grove woman with following too closely.
North Cornwall Township
Vehicle Accident – At 10:56 a.m. March 27, a vehicle driven by a Lebanon juvenile pulled out of a parking lot and struck a vehicle driven by a 68-year-old Lebanon woman traveling west on Walnut Street. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Vehicle Accident – At 12:04 p.m. March 27, a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old Hummelstown man was traveling south on the 1700 block of Quentin Road when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 68-year-old Lititz man attempting to turn left into Lowes. Some injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Firearms Not to be Carried without a License – At 11:17 a.m. March 27, police charged Random Swank, 34, of Williamstown, with firearms not to be carried without a license after an incident on the 2500 block of Cumberland Street.
North Londonderry Township
Vehicle Accident, Driving Too Fast for Conditions – At 6:11 p.m. March 27, a 16-year-old Palmyra male was charged with driving too fast for conditions after he lost control of his vehicle on the 800 block of North Forge Road and struck an embankment and a tree. He was transported to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Retail Theft – At 10:27 p.m. March 24, police responded to Walmart, 100 Londonderry Square, for retail theft. Police identified Vicki Long, 50, of Lebanon, in several previous retail thefts at Walmart. Long was subsequently charged with three counts of retail theft (misdemeanor) and one count of retail theft (summary). The retail thefts were $376.23 on Dec. 29, $274.43 on Jan. 21, $378.43 on Jan. 31, and $112.04 on March 24. Charges were filed with MDJ Garver’s office.
Palmyra Borough
Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, Drug Possession – On Feb. 19, police were at the Cadillac Motel, 977 E. Main St., for a follow-up investigation when they encountered Stacie Tharrett, 48. Drugs and related paraphernalia were observed inside Tharrett’s vehicle, and Tharrett attempted to destroy and conceal the illegal items. After a search of the vehicle, police located additional paraphernalia. On Feb. 21, a criminal complaint was filed with MDJ Garver’s office, charging Tharrett with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence – alter/destroy, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substance.
DUI, Reckless Driving – At approximately 12:21 a.m. March 8, police responded to the 00 block of West Main Street for a report of an accident involving two vehicles. A white Volkswagen sedan driven by Stephanie Compton, 36, struck a parked car. Police determined that Compton was under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Compton was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Compton was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital and consented to a blood draw. On March 31, a criminal complaint was filed with MDJ Garver’s office, charging Compton with one count of DUI-incapable of safe driving, one count of DUI-highest rate of alcohol, and reckless driving.
Hit-and-Run Crash – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred at 12:15 a.m. March 24 on the 700 block of East Main Street, where a grey Toyota Scion struck the rear of another vehicle. The Scion did not stop after the crash and continued east on Main Street towards Annville. The driver of the Scion was described as a white female with long blond hair wearing glasses. No license plate was displayed on the vehicle; however, it did have an out-of-state temporary registration tag on the back window. Photographs of the driver and the vehicle are below. Anyone with any information about the identification of the driver or the location of the vehicle is asked to contact Palmyra Borough police.
South Lebanon Township
Criminal Trespass – At approximately 1:32 p.m. March 26, police responded to the 500 block of Poplar Street for a trespass in progress. Police learned that Tylor Yeagley, 30, was warned several times in several ways against trespassing by the property owner. Police arrested Yeagley and charged him with criminal trespass.
DUI, Careless Driving, Driving while Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked – At approximately 6:25 a.m. March 4, police responded to the 1100 block of Birch Road for a crash. Police learned that, at the time of the crash, the driver, Cory Blanco, 30, was under the influence of an illegal substance (cocaine). Police charged Blanco with driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, careless driving, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, and restraint systems.
Union Township
Vehicle Accident, Stop Signs and Yield Signs – At 11:22 a.m. March 25, a 2017 Ford Explorer was traveling south on Maple Lane and stopped at the intersection of Allentown Boulevard and Maple Lane. A 2022 Subaru Ascent traveling east on SR 22 came to the intersection as the Ford made a left turn without proper clearance onto Allentown Boulevard and hit the Subaru. The Subaru attempted to avoid the Ford by exiting the road and drove into a field approximately 20 feet on the right shoulder of the east lane. The Ford sustained minor damage to the passenger’s side doors. The Subaru sustained minor damage to the driver’s side quarter panels. Porrinis Towing Service towed the Subaru from the scene. The Subaru was drivable. Police charged the driver of the Ford with stop signs and yield signs.
