South Londonderry Township police charged Collin Potter, a 21-year-old Palmyra resident, on Wednesday for his involvement in an incident at Stuff’D Steaks & Hoagies on the 2800 block of Horseshoe Pike.
Police said Potter broke into the business around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5.
When police responded to the audible business alarm, officers found “significant damage” to the inside of the building and several items stolen.
After reviewing video surveillance footage and completing an investigation with state and North Londonderry Township police, investigators identified Potter as the suspect.
Police alleged that Potter poured potentially flammable liquids on the floor before intentionally breaking a natural gas line inside the building. Campbelltown Volunteer Fire Company personnel also responded to the scene.
Police took Potter into custody around 2:30 p.m. on April 5.
Potter was arraigned before MDJ Maria Dissinger on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, risking a catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief, and failure to prevent catastrophe, and jailed in lieu of $100,000. In total, Potter faces five felony charges and six misdemeanor charges.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, April 13.
As of April 6, damage estimates were still pending.
Owner Brian Boltz said in a Facebook video Thursday that he was still speechless about the incident, which he described as a random act.
Stuff’D Steaks said in a subsequent Facebook post that it will be closed until further notice, as the flooring in the shop needs to be replaced. The restaurant also thanked the community for its support.
