The Krypton Cougars, a high school robotics team from Hershey and Palmyra, dominated their division at the 2023 FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas, culminating a remarkable season.

The competition, held April 19-23, attracted over 600 teams from more than 25 countries.

The Cougars earned their spot in the global competition by claiming victory in their first two contests of the year, then securing first place in the Districts Championship competition.

At the World Championship, the team competed on Milstein field, one of eight fields in use for the competition. After three days, the Cougars emerged as the first-place alliance captain, marking the best performance in their 16-year history.

Despite the fierce competition, the Krypton Cougars’ robot showcased its resilience, successfully competing in 16 matches with minimal damages. The team concluded the first day of the competition ranking first out of 77 teams on its field and earning notable rankings at the national and state level.

The second day brought the Cougars their first loss, yet they bounced back, securing a win against a formidable team and maintaining their first-place ranking.

On the third day, the Cougars selected teams from Connecticut, Georgia, and New Jersey to form their alliance. Despite mechanical issues in the finals, the team finished as Division Finalists, ending the season with a record of 58-15-0.
