Vehicle Accident, Driving Vehicle At Safe Speed – At 3:09 p.m. May 27, this two-vehicle crash occurred as a 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 31-year-old Lebanon man was traveling on South Pine Grove Street. A 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by a 56-year-old Jonestown man was stopped in traffic due to a vehicle turning left onto Pine Meadow Road. As the Lebanon man looked back toward the road, he saw that vehicles were stopped in front of him, but it was too late to avoid a collision. The Honda rear-ended the Chevrolet. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and reported no injuries. The Honda was towed from the scene. The Chevrolet was drivable. Police charged the Lebanon man with driving vehicle at safe speed.
City of Lebanon
Arrest Warrant – On May 26, police issued an arrest warrant against Nathaniel Santiago, 21, with the original charge being one count of escape. The charge stems from his involvement in an incident that occurred on the 1100 block of Brandywine Street.
Arrest Warrant – On May 23, police issued an arrest warrant against Vivian Rodriguez, 36, with the original charge being one count of theft by deception. The charge stems from her involvement in an incident that occurred on the 200 block of South Quince Street.
Heidelberg Township
Vehicle Accident – At 11:18 a.m. May 31, this crash occurred as a 2019 Subaru Outback driven by a 37-year-old Newmanstown woman was traveling east on SR 897 and slowed down their vehicle due to deer crossing the road from south to north. A 2019 Ram Ram 1500 driven by a 70-year-old Lebanon man was also traveling east on SR 897 and observed the deer crossing the road. Subsequently, due to the Subaru slowing down in the travel lane to avoid hitting the deer, the Ram rear-ended the Subaru. The Subaru and the Ram sustained disabling damage. Both vehicles came to final rest in the area of the crash. The Newmanstown woman and the Lebanon woman were wearing seatbelts and reported no injuries.
Jackson Township
Vehicle Accident, Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic – At 6:40 p.m. May 28, this single-vehicle crash occurred on Elm Street. A Yamaha ATV driven by a 48-year-old Newmanstown man, accompanied by a 36-year-old Newmanstown woman was traveling west on Elm Street and attempted to negotiate a left turn to go through an underpass. The Yamaha failed to negotiate the turn, exited the right side of the road, and struck the concrete underpass. The Newmanstown man sustained serious injuries and was flown from the scene. The Newmanstown woman sustained minor injuries and was transported via ambulance. Hook and Ladder and Keystone Fire Company also assisted on the scene. Police charged the Newmanstown man with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Vehicle Accident, Driving On Roadways Laned For Traffic – At 11:17 p.m. May 27, this single-vehicle crash occurred on Kutztown Road, south of its intersection with Woleber Road. A 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by a 17-year-old Myerstown male, accompanied by a 14-year-old Myerstown male, was traveling north on Kutztown Road. The Toyota was traveling at a high rate of speed and exited the road to the left shoulder, striking an embankment. The Toyota then drove through a field, struck a post, and overturned on its passenger’s side. The 17-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries of unknown severity, and was transported via Myerstown First Aid Unit to the Hershey Medical Center. The 14-year-old was wearing a seatbelt, sustained injuries of unknown severity, and was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital. The Toyota sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by CJ Wagner’s Towing. Police charged the 17-year-old with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Millcreek Township
Vehicle Accident – At 8:05 a.m. May 31, this single-vehicle crash occurred on North Sheridan Road at its intersection with West Alumni Avenue. A 2003 Buick Century was turning left from East Alumni Avenue to North Sheridan Road. The Buick was unable to properly negotiate the turn and hit a wooden fence post on someone’s property. When police arrived on the scene, the property owner stated that he knew the driver and that he should not have been driving. The property owner also stated that the driver has not been in the best of health from what he has noticed lately. Newmanstown EMS arrived on the scene prior to the police. They evaluated the driver and reported that he was not in the best condition and should not have been driving. EMS personnel also stated that the driver had not had any water in the past three days, and his legs were swollen. The driver went with EMS to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Berks County to be evaluated. No injuries from the crash were reported.
North Londonderry Township
Vehicle Accident, Careless Driving, Driving While Suspended – At 10:03 a.m. May 30, a 43-year-old Palmyra man fell asleep while driving a vehicle south on the 1100 block of Park Drive. The Palmyra man’s vehicle struck the rear of a legally parked vehicle, and the impact caused the parked vehicle to strike another legally parked vehicle. The Palmyra man’s vehicle and one of the parked vehicles required towing. Police charged the Palmyra man with careless driving and driving with a suspended license.
Vehicle Accident – Police are investigating a crash that occurred at 9:34 a.m. May 30 on Main Street and Apple Blossom Lane in which a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Lebanon man struck vehicles driven by a 76-year-old Hershey woman and a 78-year-old Palmyra man. Both the Hershey woman and an 80-year-old Hershey man who had been her passenger were transported to the Hershey Medical Center with unspecified injuries. All vehicles were towed from the scene. The Palmyra Fire Department and Life Lion EMS also assisted on the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Disorderly Conduct – At 2:34 p.m. May 31, police responded to the Palmyra High School regarding a student in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Police found a 19-year-old Palmyra man in possession of a vape pen containing THC/marijuana oil. Police charged the man with disorderly conduct. The citation was filed through MDJ Garver’s office.
Palmyra Borough
Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Harassment – At 2:47 a.m. May 27, police responded to the 00 block of South Mark Street for a reported domestic dispute. After completing an investigation, police learned that Michael Robinson, 32, choked the victim and also threatened to kill her. Police placed Robinson under arrest for terroristic threats, simple assault (domestic violence-related), and harassment and transported him to LCCB to await arraignment.
Drug Possession, Driving While Suspended, Driving Without Insurance – On Jan. 6, police pulled over a vehicle driven by Stephanie Eberhard, 49, for driving on a suspended license on the 600 block of East Main Street. During the stop, police located marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside Eberhard’s vehicle. Charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, and driving without insurance were filed against Eberhard through MDJ Garver’s office.
Public Intoxication – At 10:50 p.m. May 17, police found a 63-year-old man on the 00 block of North Grant Street under the influence of alcohol to the degree that he was a danger to himself. After completing an investigation, police charged him with public intoxication.
Drug Possession – At 9 a.m. May 19, police were on patrol when they located Allen Shoemaker II, 26, on the 00 block of North Railroad Street. Shoemaker II was known to have warrants out of MDJ Garver’s office. Police placed Shoemaker II under arrest for the warrants. During the arrest, Shoemaker II was found to be in possession of a used methamphetamine pipe and a used marijuana pipe. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against Shoemaker II on May 22.
Simple Assault, Harassment – At 9:40 p.m. May 30, police responded to the 00 block of East High Street for a domestic disturbance. Police arrived on the scene and located a female victim with multiple injuries. The suspect involved was identified as Kenny Hedges Jr., 34. Police placed Hedges Jr. under arrest and charged him with simple assault-domestic violence and harassment. Police transported Hedges Jr. to LCCB and eventually placed him in LCCF on $10,000 secured bond.
PFA Violation – On May 22, police charged Jason Hill, 33, with a Protection From Abuse Order violation. Charges were filed through MDJ Garver’s office.
Bench Warrants, Driving While Suspended – At 5:08 p.m. May 31, police pulled over a vehicle on the 700 block of West Main Street for traffic violations. Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Luis Delgado-Cartagena, 25. Delgado-Cartagena was determined to have two bench warrants out of Lebanon (theft) and Berks (fleeing or attempting to elude police) counties. He was also determined to be operating with a suspended driver’s license (DUI-related). Police placed Delgado-Cartagena under arrest for the warrants and transported him to LCCB. A separate citation was issued for driving while suspended.
Altered, Forged, Or Counterfeit Documents And Plates, Required Financial Responsibility – At 5:08 p.m. May 29, police pulled over a vehicle on the 700 block of West Main Street. The vehicle was determined to have fraudulent registration and fraudulent inspection stickers. The vehicle also had no insurance and was being operated by a man with a suspended driver’s license. Police identified the passenger and owner of the vehicle as Julymar Barbosa-Perez, 26. Police charged Barbosa-Perez with two counts of counterfeit documents, and required financial responsibility, registration required, and permitting violation of title.
South Lebanon Township
Public Drunkenness – At approximately 4:14 p.m. May 26, police responded to North Mine Road for a disturbance. After arriving on the scene, police located a 38-year-old man as he was staggering into traffic and shouting. After completing an investigation, police learned that the man was under the influence of alcoholic beverages, charged him with public drunkenness, and transported him to his residence.
Drug Possession – While patrolling the King Street area at approximately 10:06 p.m. May 21, police observed a pedestrian stumbling while walking in a traffic lane. After making contact with the subject, identified as a 23-year-old man police learned that he was under the influence of illegal narcotics. A small amount of marijuana was found on his person. Police charged him with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Driving While Suspended – At approximately 6:49 p.m. May 20, police pulled over a vehicle on the 700 block of East Walnut Street. During an investigation, police learned that the driver of the vehicle, Quirino Madrigal, 33, was driving while his license was suspended for a DUI conviction. Police also learned that he had more than three subsequent violations for the offense. Police charged Madrigal with driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked (DUI-related).
Arrest Warrants, Fleeing Or Attempting To Elude Officer, Driving While Suspended – At approximately 2:24 p.m. May 21, police attempted to pull over a vehicle on the 500 block of East Cumberland Street. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to the officers’ emergency lights and sirens. After nearly a mile, the driver stopped the vehicle, and the officers made contact. During the investigation, police learned that the driver, identified as Mindy Devitz, 43, had several warrants for her arrest. In addition to being taken into custody for the warrants, police charged Devitz with fleeing or attempting to elude officer, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, operating vehicle without valid inspection, and unauthorized transfer or use of registration.
DUI, General Lighting Requirements – At approximately 10:33 p.m. April 4, police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Prescott Road and King Street. During the course of the investigation, police learned that the driver, Jeffrey Hostetter, 33, had smoked marijuana a short time before driving the vehicle. Based on Hostetter’s performance in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and his toxicology reports, police charged him with DUI, schedule II controlled substance, and general lighting requirements.
Theft By Unlawful Taking – On Feb. 17, police began investigating a theft from a residence. During the course of the investigation, police learned that Brandy Myers, 39, had taken and used a gift card from the residence on the 200 block of Olde Meadow Lane. Police charged Myers with theft by unlawful taking.
South Londonderry Township
Missing Person Found – At 5:38 p.m. May 25, South Londonderry Township Police were dispatched to the 5600 block of Elizabethtown Road to search for a 78-year-old woman with dementia. Lawn Volunteer and Mt. Gretna fire departments and Cornwall Police also assisted with the search of Rails to Trails until she was located and returned safely to her home.
Vehicle Accident, Improper Left Turn – At 4:02 p.m. May 30, police and Lawn Volunteer and Mt. Gretna fire departments responded to the 1500 block of Mt. Wilson Road for a two-vehicle crash. A vehicle driven by a 40-year-old Palmyra woman turned in front of a vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Palmyra woman. First Aid and Safety Patrol EMS responded to the scene for a minor injury. No parties were transported by EMS. Police charged the 40-year-old Palmyra woman with improper left turn.
Swatara Township
Harassment – At 5:11 p.m. May 30, police responded to Grace Avenue for an altercation. Police charged the arrestee, a 40-year-old Lebanon man, with harassment. The victim was a 39-year-old Myerstown man.
West Lebanon Township
Disorderly Conduct – Police charged a 35-year-old Lebanon man with disorderly conduct after an altercation on the 1600 block of West Cumberland Street on May 29.
