Lebanon’s own Godshall’s Quality Meats has clinched the official Guinness World Records title for the longest piece of turkey bacon. The achievement coincided with the summer solstice and the start of National Turkey Lovers Month.

Ron Godshall, president of Godshall’s Quality Meats, praised his team’s dedication and said the record-breaking feat was a way to raise brand awareness.

“We’ve been preparing for several weeks, making sure our team members and facility had everything needed to produce the world record-setting slice of turkey bacon,” he said.

The record-breaking slice measured 17 feet, ¾ inch long and 23 inches wide, eclipsing the size of a regular turkey bacon slice by more than 1,000 times.

More than two dozen Godshall’s employees collaborated to prepare the giant bacon slice, which was wood-smoked for over six hours in a massive 25-foot long by 10-foot wide oven.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was present on-site to verify the attempt, which was organized at the company’s North Lebanon Township plant.

Following the record-setting attempt, the meat was used for a BLT luncheon attended by Godshall’s employees and local dignitaries. The remaining portions were distributed to employees and donated to a local food bank.

Founded in 1945, Godshall’s has grown to become America’s third-largest turkey bacon brand. It converted to an employee-owned company in 2017, currently employing nearly 600 employee-owners across facilities in Telford, Lebanon, Emmaus, and Souderton, Pennsylvania.
