Over the last eight months, I have had the privilege of shadowing and working closely with Jo Ellen Litz. As a Lebanon County commissioner she is full-time, transparent, consistent, and knowledgeable.
Jo Ellen goes above and beyond to give back to the community publicly and silently. I have seen her quietly visit local restaurants on a quarterly rotation to support them, promote events, volunteer, mentor, and educate everywhere she goes. Further, she does not just talk about transparency, she upholds that standard by: recording meetings, getting information to people in a timely fashion, being accessible through her Facebook page, and holding office hours for people to reach her in person.
As a member of the generation currently raising children, I find it very important to have elected officials who put People Above Politics because they should and do represent all people and make decisions that need to be handled with the utmost care and consideration for what is best for all of Lebanon County. Jo Ellen has demonstrated this repeatedly throughout the years.
One of my favorite characteristics about Jo Ellen is that she does not just show up in election years. She is a consistent public servant who attends events, and asks the really hard questions, just to mention some of her many qualities. As a community we are essentially hiring public servants through the election process to do a job. It is important that our public servants do not only talk the talk, but they also walk the walk. Jo Ellen absolutely exhibits this quality.
These are a few reasons why Jo Ellen qualifies as an exceptionally great county commissioner. It makes it easy for me to proudly say “I am Team Litz.”
